We are encouraged to eat a rainbow, but it is just as satisfying to paint a rainbow of vegetables. This watercolor is in the early stage, with lots of vibrant colors to come. Early summer upon us, and young vegetables are putting on growth. I’m already anticipating my backyard garden to table meals.
This week, I had the wonderful experience of visiting the Fey Longhorn ranch, located in Yamhill, Oregon. Daniel and Angelina Fey raise registered Texas Longhorns, and they graciously allowed me to photograph their handsome animals. I love flowers that remind me of castle spires. Garden lupines and a lone foxglove. We have such a gorgeous choice of colors to grown in our home gardens.
One of my favorite things about hiking is to observe design elements found in nature. The possibilities are endless if you look with your eyes and your heart. The remains of this oak were seen at Mill Creek Ridge, part of the Columbia Land Trust.

For the past forty years, this antique drafting table has been where I have planned and completed my paintings. Although challenging to move over numerous residence changes, I can’t imagine not having this massive oak table. It is a trigger for of my painting process, and the creative juices flow.
