This is the falls at Cabin Creek, a short walk from the Starvation Creek exit on I-84. It may be pint-sized compared to the other waterfalls in the Columbia River Gorge, but it is an intimate and refreshing place to linger.
One of my favorite things about hiking is to observe design elements found in nature. The possibilities are endless if you look with your eyes and your heart. The remains of this oak were seen at Mill Creek Ridge, part of the Columbia Land Trust.
